Andrew Thaler Independent Candidate for Eden-Monaro Lower House Election 2nd July, 2016

Why an Independent

Independents are accountable to their electors.  Policies are generally robust and developed in the best interests of the communities they represent.  They are able to think for themselves and tend to advocate very strongly for the electorate.

The Mission

As an Independent, my mission is to listen to individuals and groups within Eden Monaro to hear the issues at a grass roots level;  always advocate for the community; push as hard as we can to achieve a sustainable, well planned and economically viable Electorate.

Why not a party?

Political parties are designed to adhere to a particular ideology. This means the policy is determined by the parties, not by the candidates and party candidates must adhere to those policies, whether or not they are in the best interests of the community.

UTS takes lead in first Australian corporate purchase of offsite solar

UTS takes lead in first Australian corporate purchase of offsite solar

By Giles Parkinson on 9 September 2015

The University of Technology Sydney has signed an agreement to buy the output of the 200kW Singleton solar farm in what is being described as a “first” in renewable energy purchasing in the country.

The Chau Chak Building on the Broadway campus will source 12 per cent of its annual electricity consumption from the Singleton solar farm located more than 150kms away in the Hunter Valley.

Such purchases are common in the US and elsewhere, whre corporates, both big and small, source some or all of their electricity needs from an offsite location.

NSW election 2015: Political party using fake photos wins top spot on ballot paper

By state political reporters Liz Foschia and Sarah Gerathy Updated 13 Mar 2015, ABC News

A NSW political party caught trying to pass stock advertising images as photos of its supporters on its website has won the coveted first spot on the ballot paper for the state election.

The positions for the Legislative Council ballot were drawn on Thursday afternoon, with the No Land Tax party drew position A, giving it a strong chance of getting a candidate elected.

The party wants a full restructuring of the state's taxation system, including land tax, stamp duty and payroll tax.
