Andrew Thaler Independent Candidate for Eden-Monaro Lower House Election 2nd July, 2016

Why an Independent

Independents are accountable to their electors.  Policies are generally robust and developed in the best interests of the communities they represent.  They are able to think for themselves and tend to advocate very strongly for the electorate.

The Mission

As an Independent, my mission is to listen to individuals and groups within Eden Monaro to hear the issues at a grass roots level;  always advocate for the community; push as hard as we can to achieve a sustainable, well planned and economically viable Electorate.

Why not a party?

Political parties are designed to adhere to a particular ideology. This means the policy is determined by the parties, not by the candidates and party candidates must adhere to those policies, whether or not they are in the best interests of the community.

Singleton Solar Farm: Big Solar no one wanted, set to be switched back on

Sophie vorrath 3 December, 2014

One of Australia’s largest solar arrays is set to be switched back on, more than 15 years after it was built by the NSW government.

The 407kW Singleton Solar Farm in NSW’s Hunter Valley was sold by power distributor Ausgrid in June this year to family-owned company XYZ Solar.

It was originally constructed in 1998/99 as part of the 2000 Olympics, along with the 70kW Sydney Superdome array, which was also sold to XYZ Solar.

Thaler focused on 2016

David Butler Sept. 13, 2013,

NIMMITABEL small business man Andrew Thaler worked hard to raise his profile as an independent candidate in Eden-Monaro this election, staging a sit-in protest at the Queanbeyan 'Meet the Candidates' night and taking to Twitter to spruik his independent credentials.

He told The Queanbeyan Age he was disappointed to achieve just over 1 per cent of the total vote (958 first preference votes at time of print).

"To be honest, I was disappointed," Mr Thaler said.
