Why an IndePendent

Independents are accountable to their electors.  Policies are generally robust and developed in the best interests of the communities they represent.  They are able to think for themselves and tend to advocate very strongly for the electorate.

The Mission

As an Independent, my mission is to listen to individuals and groups within Eden Monaro to hear the issues at a grass roots level;  always advocate for the community; push as hard as we can to achieve a sustainable, well planned and economically viable Electorate.

What Is

An Independent candidate is someone who is not part of a political party, but an individual advocating for and representing their community.

Renewable energy expert calls for greater investment in new technology beyond electricity production

ABC Rural

How many years have I been saying this now... I've lost count.
Finally, some people seem to be getting the message..

‪#‎RenewableEnergy‬ ‪#‎RenewableElectricity‬ ‪#‎AusVotes‬

Renewable energy expert says the current focus on renewable energy is skewed towards electricity generation and not on actual energy output.

Professor Richard Heinberg, from the Post Carbon Institute in California, said electricity was only 20 per cent of global energy requirements.

The other 80 per cent is used directly in many industrial processes, which he says needs technological breakthroughs to replace the massive global infrastructure that supports them.

Independents fight to share new ideas

Independents fight to share new ideas

Albert McKnight, June 28 2016, Bega District News

Independents who are vying for the electorate of Eden-Monaro said the main challenge they face on their campaigns is getting the same amount of attention as major parties.

“[The Liberal candidate] Peter Hendy can afford not to go to any forum and answer questions of the public,” Independent candidate Daniel Grosmaire said.

“Most of the major parties have had their major policies explained on TV or radio.

“If we talk face to face with someone there is no problem, but because we do not have much media attention we can’t spread the word easily.”

Mr Grosmaire said when you have a new idea, like an Independent may have, it takes a much longer time to explain it to someone.

Albert mcKnight Bega District News

An Independent candidate for Eden-Monaro has accused Labor and The Greens of “putting politics before the environment” by placing him low on their preferences.

Independent Andrew Thaler made the remark, saying he and his wife have 8000 solar panels - the highest privately-owned amount that he knows of.
